MCA delegates must reject empire building

As we come to the end of campaigning for the MCA elections, it is now up to the delegates to make their choices.

I hope they will choose wisely in what is the most crucial and important election for the MCA in its history.

We have been rejected by a significant portion of society.

As such, we need to rejuvenate and re-invent ourselves. I hope the delegates should consider that when they make their decisions.

Who among the candidates, best represent change? Who has offered the best ideas for reform and rebranding of the party?

Who can bring about real change to bring back support for the party?

I hope I have done enough to convince the delegates and members that I will bring about this real change demanded by the voters of Malaysia.

I urge delegates to reject empire building in MCA. It is precisely such manipulations which have contributed to the perception that the MCA is corrupt.

Once a leader says he bears responsibility for party losses in the elections, then he should really retire.

What is the idea of putting in place a list of candidates whom he can control?
Is that real change?

Surely this cannot be acceptable.

If you are retiring then go. Why is there such a need to hold on to power by being the power behind the throne?

Such is the greed for power that the endorsed candidate who used to fight against such manipulation previously has already accepted the arrangement.

Then by the next term, the brother can take over perhaps?

So while the party and Barisan Nasional continue to suffer, the outgoing leadership of the MCA continues politics as usual by sharing the spoils.

Is this the kind of party we the delegates want?
I want to change the perception of the party from being known as Umno apologists to become again an equal partner in the ruling BN coalition.

The MCA must have its voice heard again. It is not a party where we share government spoils among ourselves.

We must champion universal issues which concern all Malaysians, from education to good governance, from corruption to justice.

These are the challenges ahead of us.

So the choice is clear.

Real change or old politics.

VOTE CHUA SOI LEK, CANDIDATE FOR MCA DEPUTY PRESIDENT, NO.4 FOR REAL CHANGE, REAL POLITICS!

Dr. Chua,
You are a good man you did an excellent job as Health Minister. I wish you good luck and hope you win. Personally, I think you would also make a good President too.

Dr. Chua,
The polite debate last night was good. What is missing is the details. Probably it is to avoid stirring up issues. It is unfortnate Datuk Ong Tee Kiat refuse the chance to have a go with Datuk Chua Jui Ming for the second session of the MCA's debate. Another aspect of good leadership is the ability to work with others and to control because there cannot be a free flow of the latest, newest ideas and this free flow goes haywire and create chaos instead. This sort of live debate is the beginning. Not many can agree to it. Most prefer to live in the comfort zone and refuse to face the ugly true facts. It is fearful to really change. If change does come, can we all live up to it ?

YB Dr Chua Soi Lek

I am a life member of MCA. I believe that you are the true leader that MCA needs to stay relevant.

Unfortunately, the current part leaders and most of their members are too busy putting their hands in the same cookie jar (actually left-over scrumbs from UMNO) that they failed to realise they are the actual cause of the problems.

Best of Luck.

Dear Dr.Chua,
Congratulations on your win in the MCA elections today!

The rakyat who have been following yr writings in your blog have faith in your thoughts and concerns for the party and the rakyat in general.

Your win shows that the voters WANT CHANGE and not just rhethorics like previous leaders of MCA (like OKT who only dared speak-up when giving his farewell speech yesterday and not engage UMNO when it matters).

All candidates during the party elections have talked about being more vocal and standing up to Umno hegemony. But it is not anything we have not heard before.

Being vocal and being capable of effectively changing policies are two different things. We sincerely hope that you will walk the talk and promote real change to the party. Rest assured that you will be watched closely!

Wishing you god speed in your reforms from within the party.
