The political scenario is such that a lot of the younger generation thinks all is good with PR – in other words, it can do no wrong. What BN does is all wrong!
People are getting more critical of BN and forgiving of Pakatan. Even if its YBs do not serve its constituents well, there are less rumblings among the voters. PR is enjoying its political honeymoon.
Since coming to state power, some of the Pakatan policies are good and deserved our support e.g. freehold land for new villages.
However, its impact on the long term needs to be look at.
Since state revenue is very dependent on the land premium (on conversion of land usage or renewal of land lease), once it is freehold, the one off payment of land premium will be high but there will be no further payment since there is no renewal of land lease and no recurrent revenue.
This will have an impact on further generation in term of land revenue to the state bearing land premium is the primary source of state revenue. It will also have impact on long term planning and development within the state when land becomes freehold.
There is a need for BN to monitor the performance of the PR. We have to point out its shortcoming, in the same way PR scrutinize BN policy through a fine combination.
BN has not been able to play the role of an opposition member in the Pakatan controlled state effectively. That is the problem being in the government for too long!
We should monitor how PR govern its state:
1) Have PR fulfill its election pledges as contained in its manifesto – or it is just empty slogans e.g. free interest loan to government servants, grant to all kindergarten schools, cash aid to family whose children are going to university, land for Chinese schools, reduce land premium as promised in its manifesto.
2) Election for local councilors
Have Pakatan initiated policy changes to enable this to be implemented? Have Pakatan appointed NGOs to be councilors?
3) Are the local authorities more effective in PR states, e.g. the performance of the local authority?
Have they improved, less corruption and abuse of power, or it is business as usual. Have the towns (city in PR state) been cleaned up? What about garbage disposal problem?
4) What about the security problem?
At the state level, Menteri Besar or Chief Minister is chairman of the state security and is entitled to call for briefing on state security matters by either the State Chief Police on State Special Branch officers. Have Pakatan MB or CM done this briefing so that the necessary security measures can be undertaken on the request of the state government.
5) Transportation problem is with the state.
Is there any proposal to overcome the horrendous traffic system in Penang city?
If Pakatan wants to be the viable alternative government, it has to show that it can do its work better than BN. Short term pronouncement to curry favour the voters will not do.
I do not expect Pakatan to be perfect but they must show us better leadership and understanding of the rakyat aspiration. Hitting out the previous administration without remedial and better alternative is not long term planning for development.
BN leaders should be more alert about the shortcoming of the Pakatan administration.
Let there be healthy competition and it is the rakyat that calls the final shot. Then the 2 party system will see healthy competition and good political development. The rakyat gets nothing from political gamesmanship and political dramas enacted by PR and BN leaders.

You see why people felt sympathetic to PR and less forgiving to BN government, because very often the government take law into its own hand (at least that is what the general public felt).
You look at the Selangor MB case, just only a few cows and some repair cost, ACA already went public with such small incident. What about the West Port FTZ, private tolls concessions, last year attorney general report on all the frauds, why no actions or apparent actions taken on these bloody obvious incidents.
Even the Perk episode,
Need to say more ? ? ! !
Dear Dato ,
Billions lost bcos of BN . MB selangor donate cow to rakyat and use his own car as offical car . So can't claim for maintance ? How many times Pok Lah use govenment jet for BN function ? no harm ?
Dear Dr. Choi Soi Lek,
Look at what is happening to you and that itself is enough explanation, using government machinery to stiffle desent. You step down or compromise and nothing will happen to you otherwise, god will be your witness but he cant take the stand in mans court.
In Penang, we are extremely happy. What horrendous traffic are you talking about. Maybe you should drive around in Penang and then compare to other BN ruled towns. There is no problem.
Even if there is a problem we know it will be resolved and on merit without fear or favour.
Boy, when will all of you realise it or maybe you already do but ........
Look at Perak, PDRM wants to go after the speaker...hallo hallo...he has immunity in his functions, why are you bringing the institution into disrepute. BN started this illegal takeover and now PR will finish it with one sided legislations that were institutionalised by BN
Look at MACC, what a joke
Look at the government...it is only UMNO...you guys MCA and MIC is just there to give it a legitimate appearance of being multi racial
Dr. Chua....time is up....the people who realise it will survive, other will sink with the UMNO titanic, apparently unsinkable
Good Luck!
I don't think people are "blind" with the fact that some PR's steps are wrong or say some pledges are yet to be achieved.
I think even the PR's party members themselves are often discontented with some of the measures taken.
But the people are willing to give them more time, compared to the BN which has governed us for 52 years.
Also, they see that while PR is slowly moving with several progressive measures under the constraints and pressure from federal government, the BN government itself is seen to be adopting a series of backward measures... and henceforth the people rather support a slow moving progressive PR...
It's a perception thing. BN has acquired so much ill will lately that any utterances from them always leave a bad taste in the mouth. Suspicion, ulterior motive, self interest are the first thought that come to mind when talking about BN.
The big U and M or the G can deny these perceptions by the people and you can have the main stream media writing that everything is rosy but at the end of the day, unless BN starts looking up to the people as their master, things will only turn from bad to worse.
It is not PR can do no wrong, but being the new kid on the block, its innocence is at least refreshing.
everyone practises oral sex these days......its the norm......
only thing there is no prove we practise it, whats the Governments problem if we wanna have oral sex ....if anyone wants to record it, is it our fault ?
Dr Chua,
With respect, all this effect is cause by BN itself. The PR can not find anything to talk about if there is no such issue. It takes 2 hands to clap. Like Mike said; what about the PKFZ? What about the MANSION (ISTANA ???) at you know where?
We know the local newspaper were all censored, gaged or plain bias. But now with internet, we are more well informed (i am not saying to believe everything in internet).
If BN is doing their job well, who can question them, but sadly that is not the case that we the rakyat believed. Show us proof, let us see and make us believe BN again.
With the power of internet, even the video (linked to you) is easily available and that is a statement that how raw the information can be. But to me that video does not mean the person implicated is not capable to perform their task. We are actually proud of you when you go for the re-election and jumped straight to seat no 2 (should have got to seat no 1). We can accept (scandalous) capable leaders who can lead and achieve the objective and mission. But we will reject the ever so called "Justice Pao" who can not do anything and has nothing to show (don't even mention about leading us). We the young generations needs capable leader who is able to show their achievements and not hiding all under the table (U know why). We need to be proud of our leader. But sadly BN failed us again, this is why PR is winning. I do not mind if you delete this post as this is your blog but what i am mentioning here is just a point of view. But i am sure there is plenty of ppl agree with my point.
How can PR government peform better when BN instruments i.e Police, MACC , civil servants ( both state and Federal ) etc were employed at full force to frustrate the good effort initiated by PR at every turn ?
Anyway, PR is way ahead in adminstrating Penang, Perak , Selangor and Kedah and much better in terms of transparency , accountability and corruption.
DR,
we just want change becos umno/BN is the hate of all. They are so corrupted that when ever umno/BN is mentioned, they are associated with corruption and the persecution of the minorities.
So for now we have no other alternatives but PR.Even PR is wrong we still have to live with them becos it's our choice. If ever one day PR we found out that PR is not our choice then we will find another alternative but we will never go back to umno/BN.umno/BN is can never, never be the champion that we once knew. This racist parties are only concern about their own pockets.Never have these parties come down to the poor and hardcore rakyats.
I for one will never live with a angel, knowing too well that this angel is a devil at heart but I will live with a devil whom I know have a kind heart. So for all what umno/BN have done to us,the 'U' turn for us will never happen. So it's time for umno/BN to disband and form a single party that is for, with and by the people.Remember,it's the rakyat that's the priority ,not your pockets.Without us you won't be where you all are!
it probably seems like that from where you are standing, but as a young Malaysian the wrongs and rights done so far really tips the BN in the far negative. UMNO members who wield considerable power still 'don't get it'. and mca folks like you who may have good intentions but don't seem to really understand what's happening on the ground? When civil society seems to know what's wrong and what should be done before politicians, then there is something very wrong. There are NGO people in selangor local councils. they r trying to stop future land slides in selangor from happening. civil society have long known what the problems were... but BN politician with its narrow, short term, economic considerations, that failed to see and understand them.
BN can do right..but NOTHING said and done so far indicates that!
I'm not living in hometown Perak for quite sometimes already because i'm working elsewhere.
But one thing for sure is that the local government in my hometown has certainly improved according to my parents and siblings who are still living there.
Another thing to note; the church that i went to when i was a teenager had been wanting to convert a plantation land that the church owns to a building land to build new church facilities. Under the past BN administration in Perak, the cost of converting the land was more than RM100K. Yet the PR government granted the church the conversion with a premium of just a few thousands ringgit. To me that was a job well done and according to their manifesto! Also, it took only a couple of months to complete all the paper work. In the past, the church leaders was directed to go all over the places just for the paper work!
Well, that's call EFFICIENCY which was never something can be expected out of previous BN government.
Yes, I agree that as the opposition BN should monitor PR but pls stop all the nonsense that the BN is trying to do! The RAKYAT are not stupid! Just look at how the country is doing and what the BN federal government is more concern.
The global economy is melting and yet the BN government is not doing much besides trying to use all sorts of ways to tumble PR state governments. Come on!
I just had a look at Malaysia's sovereign reserves figure and got a shock of my life.It dipped almost 35% from RM120.3bil to RM91.3bil. Aren't that of a concern to the BN government????!!!!
Dato, you still dare to write that PR can do no wrong and BN can do no right? Just what right can BN do????
Chua,
Again, it's pointless to make such statement. The die has been cast. Just like the Labour Front in Singapore, it's doomed to failure. Take goodness for that country, Britain was in control. They played by rules even with heavy handed (It's because of the british's insistence that Yew Hock must deal thoroughly with the chinese masses, leading to his ouster).
Chua,
Just like Dr Hsu of Gerakan. Why are you still with MCA? I said many times, you should do a "Hee". Better still, bring along your gang from MCA. Set up MCA Baru. Be like Neo Yee Pan. Fight! Yes, damage to the party. So what! It's not to people's benefits as well as your own. Leave
It's actuallu quite simple!
UMNO/MCA/MIC had 50 years to do the right thing by all citizens, irrespective of race, religion or creed.
But BN actuall went in the opposition direction and promoted racism, religious intolerance and trampling of the minorities while actively supporting the looting and plunder of the nation's coffers!
By contrast, Pakatan has been in power in 5 States for less than a year. To therefore ask for a Report Card (11 months vs 50 years) is not only unreasonable but shows the desperation among the ranks of the much reviled and discredited BN.
At least, under Pakatan, the States have not collapsed, and the kind of financial misdemeanoues levelled at Pakatan Reps is of the kuching kurai kind compared to the mega billion $ scandals under BN - e.g.$4.2 billion fraud at PKZ Port Klang now being actively covered up by Ong Tee Kiat.
Under these circumstances, we will continue to support Pakatan where there is at least some hope. With BN, the cupboard is completely empty with only Spindoctoring left to fool the PEOPLE. That, we will not buy!!
http://donplaypuks.blogspot.com
All the comments r against what you wrote!
Shame on u!
U better spend more time to think how to attack your president OTK la!
Don't waste time writtting bullshit!
Dear Dr. Chua,
Under some situation, i won't agree with you as it is still early to jump into conclusion. Yes, there are still a lot of PR to learn and there are still more for BN to change as well. In short, there are still rooms for both to improve. Lastly, i would like to urge both PR and BN to stop all the nonsenses and concentrate to do more for the "BOSS" which is the rakyat. I hope that the all the MPs should awared that where their salary from? Under current situation, more things should be done to improve the financial situation. Instead of wasting time to plan for how to counter attack back the opposition, why not spend the time to come out more suggestions to solve the problem?? Even a primary student also know the logic, i don't think our MPs don't.
GOD Bless.....................
My dear good Dr.
I would suggest that you look into your own backyard first and that of MCA's and BN's. It is so full of shit and dirt I believe it is an almost an impossible task to clean it.
The best remedy is to bury it for good.
We are all so bloody sick of the rubbish that is BN and the impotence and irrelevance of MCA, I am amazed you still think that people actually believe that BN can still deliver. Goodness me, I thought you would have been more savvy than this.
We are no fools. PR is still wet behind its ears, fallible and susceptible to blunders and missteps. But hello, BN has 50 years to get it right but look at where we are now? Just compare with our neighbour down south with zero resources. Its dollar is 2.4 times stronger than ours and it has public institutions of world class standard. Enough said.
Yes, we have reach a point where indeed it is a fact that BN can do no right!! Give me a good example dear Dr. A recent example of what has gone right? Honestly, we are so fed up - do not blame us if we think that PR can do no wrong. BN has only itself to blame and I for one will rejoice if the rakyat one day sends it into political oblivion.
I suggest you busy yourself with the ridiculous in-fighting of MCA than to make specious remarks about PR.
Dr Chua,
While I agree that there is need for partisanship, BN is in no position to ask this from the voters.
There is no point now of taking on the tone of the wrongly aggrieved and trying to appeal to the voters to be reasonable. 50 years of history have taught us that the BN is nothing but a bloodthirsty and merciless tiger that just happens to be injured for the moment, and is pleading with the villagers (voters) to show it mercy. But if and when this tiger heals from its wounds, it is certain to come back with a vengeance, and that will be the end of us all.
That's the big chasm between PR and BN -- one works for the people and is for the people, the other only know how to think of making money under the guise of development.
So what if PR is unable to generate cash if they give away the land to the rightful Perakians? That is when innovative thinking (i.e. thinking out of the box) can get PR far ahead of the game. With their thinking caps on, I'm sure they will figure out other sources of income for the state.
On the other hand, the previous BN state govt must had been purely contented with getting money in the manner you have just mentioned -- sit on your bloody backsides and let the money roll in from state land. No wonder Perak was like a dead state, Ipoh a dead city, no meaningful development of the state, nothing! All because BN leaders are an easily contented lot doing donkey's work sitting on their backsides while lording over Perak. Are you like that, Dr. Chua?
Eh, you kidding me when you wrote this??? Are you blind or simply too dense to understand what is really going on? OR are you simply a glutton for people to dis you thoroughly?
Nobody is saying that PR can do no wrong. All of us understand and acknowledge the fact that there will always be a few bad apples in every apple tree and we all are willing to be patient about this. For one, PR is relatively new and have not had much experience in many areas. For another, as of now, PR have relatively less "bad apples" on their tree compared to BN and if I may say so, BN is infested with "bad apples"!! Infact, I think it is beyond help and this BN apple tree must be chopped down!
You are right about people getting very critical of BN. People are now more aware of what the hell is going on and how BN is swindling all of us! Take a look at all the events after march 08.. You dare say with conscience that BN did right?!
As for the land thingy, sigh.. I am very sure the State revenue is not going kaput without a few pieces of land here and there!! Come on la!! State revenue is not all about land premiums, it is all about good governance and transparency with integrity and honor!! GET IT RIGHT!!
As for fulfilling election pledges, err.. err.. what about BN?? Hasn't BN been cheating all of us for the last god knows how many elections? BN has yet to fulfill the all race are equal pledge you know!! So, what are you grumbling like some old lady about PR!?
Eh, in many areas, we all can see that it is not that PR state government does not want to fulfill or do.. it is the federal government aka BN that is making hell for them to do it! Look at the water concession issue.. look at the penang bridge issue. Look at the land issue in Perak before BN stole the state away. By the way, the way BN went about stealing the state with the help of that ugly, hopeless piece of ass as the head of state is disgusting!
There is really no need for BN to play "policeman" all in the name of protecting the intrest for all in long run because we all know that BN is only interested in protecting and enriching their own gang! BN is not interested in protecting the common people's rights and desire!
A word of advise.. BN should do what Chairman Mao did for China! Close their blady door and do thorough housekeeping and put the whole blady house in order before coming out to clever clever challenge and dictate to others!!
Dear DR. Chua Soi lek
"We should monitor how PR govern its state"
WRONG!
" WE " should not monitor .
" we " should observe, learn the good and bad of policy, implementation and effect.
if good "we" should adopt.
look at america how the stimulus package was pass, with the support of opposition party.
if in malaysia "we" will face discipinary action from individual component party
personally i am against " freehold " 99 years is more suitable . Except for school.---
"WE" should focus on what we should have done but not done .
NOT what other had "promise" but not done. -- eg.you neighbour promise to take his wife to europe for holiday but not done.
NONE of your business.HAHAHA!
The people is more "tolerant " to PR.
was it because, they think they have seen the worst so they have to bear with the bad.or they just want changes hope for the best but "unprepare" for the worst.
i think
what "we" should have done
1)Pass a law to stop "frog"
2)"open tender"
3) call all banker, redevelop abandon project.
4)A commision /board comprise of BN, PR and other to supervise " EPF" board.
5)A comision/board comprise of BN, PR and other to supervise corruption. and answerable only to the parliment.
6) stop agrue on Chinese education .look at the ecomonic value of , china, taiwan, honhkong,---or just look at the muslim population of china.
--- forget about the other chinese in the world.
we can't survise without "mandrain"
" we have no choice"
7) medium of instruction. for maths and science.in engliah/ choinese/ malay/tamil.
a wise man say " a cat can catch mouse is a good cat"
no good in english
can go china, taiwan, indonesia, arab, japan ,french.german---
go global. why only english.
my friend in england told me their kid have to take french" /german/ ----- as second langguage???
not every one have to be proficient in english/malay/ choinese/tamil/---
,in life you don't need to know everything.
the "wrong" thing may not be neccesarry from BN or PKR, BUT usually is the execution by Govenrment staff. BUT all this is to clasifya s BN mistake becuase no corrective messure has been done for the pass many years
Mr Chua Soi Lek, it seems like you will never get the point. Its not BN can do no right but BN most of the times had done so many wrongs. I am not suprised this is coming from you. Even if today Pakatan does a few wrongs, we will still vote for Pakatan. Soi Lek, BN is history. I am not a member of any political parties, but I will strive to get more people to vote for Pakatan. I will corss the oceans to come back and vote for Pakatan. You and BN will face the wrath of the people in next election. Frankly statements from people like you makes me sick to the core. Speak as if you and BN are so great. Wake up Uncle Soi Lek. I really wanna grab your hand and other BN component leaders hands and say congratulations when some of you lose your seats in the next general election. And I want to tell you uncle, Malaysia is a laughing stock of the world whenever I travel to other countries or speak to different nationalities.
Aren't you ashamed to wear that BN logo on your shirt? Are you proud of whats happening in Perak? You and BN are all plain dirty. You are a disgrace to the rakyat. Go away and leave us alone.
JOIN PAKATAN TODAY! BE IN THE HISTORY!
Dr. Chua,
It's not the issue of BN can do no right, but the issue whether you can win the heart of the people. I just feel that the general sentiment is that BN government is arrogant, not implementing policies that benefiting the people (Look at the highway, water contracts, they benefit who? No wonder they want to place them under OSA). Rather they use it for its own gain, and use the government machineries to the fullest to suppress the opposition.
1) Just look at how EC was being used to topple the Perak government and the arrangement of polling date (why after UMNO party election, why on weekday and schools affected need to replace? Why not on weekend to encourage people to vote? It seems they are trying to discourage people from outstation to go back to vote)
2) The perception is that BN government is afraid of going through the ballot box. Rather they prefer attracting frogs from PR and hide behind the royalty. It seems they have ginored the people's power, which you will face it eventually.
3) Look at how UMNO turn this objections from PR into a treachery issue. Behind the demostration, and shouting of "Daulat Tuanku", what is the message they are trying to convey? (Those who challenge Sultan, is challenging the Malays rights!!)Ironically, MCA Youth also participated in the rally, supporting what they are doing.
3) When Karpal Singh was commenting that Sultan can be challenge in court for his decision made in his official capacity. He is just looking from legal perspective. But what UMNO Youth have done seems telling us we are not living in a civil society.
4) The action of the head of MACC, Ahmad Said to made the donation of cows and car maintenance issues into a high profile one is making us doubt whether he can carry out his duty impartially. Why suddenly become so efficient, and focus on two issues, which I am sure there many manay more serious one still no action have been taken? A few big one like exorbitant commission paid on the purchase of submarine, the recent purchase of military helocopter (which later was cancelled. But they can purchase without going through proper evaluation and test, funny!) and many many more. Every year the auditor general comes out with report showing so many irregularities involved but so far we don;t see any actions taken on those involved;
4) The use of draconian ISA on those who are innocent. But action still not taken on Ahmad Ismail who fan the sentiment. Former MCA Youth head who insist the government needs to review the ISA, now has become quiet after Pak Lah said "no review is necessary".
5) PR is still at infancy stage, no doubt they still have weaknesses. But they have shown efforts to materialise what they have promised to the people eventhough they do not have the machinery and the resources. They are at disadvantage if compared to BN. For this, we have to give sympathy points to them for the limitations they faced. Of course they can perform better if new talents and those who are experienced in the government administration are joining them.
Everyone know the problem.
UMNO is very important to MCA, Gerakan, MIC & etc. etc.
Without TAI KO.
How to cari makan?
Dr CSL,
I'm Perakian, after PR rules the state until now, really we see a lot of improvement...compare with BN rules it for 52 years......
What I feel BN is BN won't change...!!! Sad to say....only fight for power and money....
And why are the people sympathetic to Pakatan? Because BN is a BIG, BIG BULLY, using established machineries like the MACC to squeeze PKR. Pople generally root for underdogs and this never changes.
MCA is barking up the wrong tree. Look within the BN, not at the rakyat for what's wrong.
BN is a loser. They don't even dare go to the polls in Perak.
Well said Anil! Uncle Chua, what have you gotta say in response to Anil's comments?
So, Uncle Chua, how?? You quitting BN or not?? I am sure with your experience and fighting spirit, you can contribute tremendously to the society thru PR. Afterall, MCA with its current boss seems to be making tremendous effort to curb your desire to contribute. Quit only la.. Quit, join PR (this is not call leap/hop/jump)and contribute! I am sure PR will value your effort much better than BN/MCA. Think about it.
For crying out loud, he is a legitimate MP not criminal, why prohibit a legal Malaysian to visit Sarawak while leaving all the illegal foreigners running around?
As for BN doing the right thing, look at the abolishment of Salak South tolls at Besraya. The actual fact is
THE TOLL WAS NOT ABOLISHED, BUT SIMPLY MOVE TO A BETTER LOCATION 3-4 YEARS LATER
Why these leaders lied to people and worse many in the group join the bandwagon to collect whatever brownie points there are to be collected.
You see the un-classification of private tolls concession agreement, MCA also went to view the documents and promised to come out with some PAPER(s) to present to cabinet. Until today nothing was heard of again.
The hard working Tony and the gangs already came out with a draft proposal for government to take Plus private by raising the money through the issuance of bond. Since government already own close to 65% of Plus and with plus profit of close to 20 billions a year, to me the proposal is extremely feasible. If this plan is put through, it will save the road users close to 14 billions by 2015 and by 2016, no more tolls for the north south highway. Can you image the economical multiplication factor of the 14 billions save and the benefit the country will enjoy once this main transport artillery is tolls free (cheaper transport cost, goods, retail price, efficiency etc.) This proposal is put forth by this young and energetic PR leader that has a long term vision and commitment to put people interest ahead of any agenda.
I like to see Dr Chua or MCA stand on this issue? Let's see what good BN can do on this? !
Dr. Chua,
It's not the issue of BN can do no right, but the issue of whether you can win the heart of the people. I just feel that the general sentiment is that BN government (especially UMNO) is the usual arrogant, not implementing policies that benefiting the people (Look at the highway, water contracts, they benefit who?
4) The action of the head of MACC, Ahmad Said to made the donation of cows and car maintenance issues into a high profile one is making us doubt whether he can carry out his duty impartially. Why suddenly become so efficient, and focus on two issues, which I am sure there many manay more serious one still no action have been taken? A few big one like exorbitant commission paid on the purchase of submarine, the recent purchase of military helocopter (which later was cancelled. But they can purchase without going through proper evaluation and test, funny!) and many many more. Every year the auditor general comes out with report showing so many irregularities involved but so far we don;t see any actions taken on those involved;
BN has been in power for so long and I think it's fair to say that BN is not really doing a good job.
This makes the people disappointed and giving up hope on BN government.
I think BN including MCA should do some self-reflection why "The political scenario is such that a lot of the younger generation thinks all is good with PR – in other words, it can do no wrong. What BN does is all wrong!"
Bar Council: Stop the harassment, MACC
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 26 — The Malaysian Bar Council has issued a statement condemning the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) recent actions that suggest “impartiality” and “harassment” on the part of the Commission.
The written statement by Malaysian Bar Council president Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan questioned the MACC’s recent public statement about investigations against Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim “in a way that raised serious questions about the impartiality of the Commission”, and the alleged three-hour interrogation of Perak State Assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar by MACC.
“These events give rise to two concerns. One is of the harassment of the (Perak) Speaker and an interference with his duties, and the other is that there is an unusual haste and publicity in relation to the MB’s case when far more serious reports against others appear to have been put aside,” stated Ambiga.
One of the issues raised by the Bar Council was the question of the MACC being an independent body that acted professionally in their investigations and practised impartiality to all cases, unlike the previous Anti-Corruption Agency, as quoted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the MACC launch.
It said: “How then is the MACC seeking to remove the negative perceptions the Prime Minister spoke of? These events also cause to question what regard the authorities really have for the interests of the public and the public perception.”
The statement point out that the public cannot fooled. “The public are ever watchful of what is unfolding before them… They know that the Rule of Law is vital and that democratic institutions must be strong. The public must never be underestimated in their appreciation of these issues.”
The statement continued with an urgent call to MACC to address the concerns expressed by the Bar Council and “to play their role in ensuring that the Rule of Law is upheld at all times.”

Persoal manifesto DAP
Surat 1

Jangan perlekeh program Angkasawan Malaysia
