'I am for collective leadership'
Kuala Lumpur: Newly elected MCA President Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek will practice collective leadership and is confident of the party moving forward as a team.
"We will listen to the voice of the grassroots. I am convinced we can move forward as a team with support from all parties," he told at a press conference after he was declared the new party president.
He thanked central delegates for giving him and the other new members in the central committee the mandate to carry out their responsibilities.
Dr Chua also recorded the party's appreciation to former presidents Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting and Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat.
"They are rich in experience. Both of them can teach and guide us as we lead the party,"he said, adding that the new leaders would listen to and cooperate with the two to make the party stronger.

Congratulations to Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek for being elected to the post of MCA President. I truly believe with all heart that Dr.Chua will be the best MCA president ever.
Why? Because Dr.Chua have always been an excellent leader with a proven track record. He has always been an inclusive leader and have never use unhealthy political tactics on his political rivals. He is always well respected by all.
Even despite the recent setbacks in his political career, he persevered and made an excellent comeback. We needs such a great leader at such time and season. Dr.Chua is truly a great leader that doesn't give-up at all.
Dr. Chua is a person that we can trust. He took responsibilty for his actions during that DVD scandal setback. This is sign of a true leader and gentlemen. During the AGM and Greater Unity Plan saga, Dr.Chua was always a man of his words.
Running a political party and co-running the country is not for ordinary men. To those who keep on harping on the past, we can never stop anyone from saying what they like. But please check your motives, it is to build up our Nation and the Chinese community or because you have hidden political agenda.
Datuk Ser Dr Chua Soi Lek, you are a true champion for Malaysia, MCA and the Chinese. We believe in you. Do your best and do us proud. The Chinese community's confidence in MCA is restored by you being the MCA president.
