Pakatan has not kept promises, says Soi Lek

SEREMBAN: Pakatan Rakyat leaders have not done anything about pledges they made during the 2008 general election, said MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek.

“See for yourselves if there have been changes or any big difference since they assumed power in some states,” he said.

Dr Chua added many Pakatan representatives were nowhere to be seen after winning the seats.

“In fact, all the work in the constituencies where the Barisan lost is still being carried out by us from Barisan. We are the ones who are still serving the rakyat,” he told some 1,000 people at a Deepavali gathering organised by the Rahang MCA at Taman Limau Emas on Tuesday.

Dr Chua urged the people to give their support to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak so the Government could continue with its economic transformation programme.

On party matters, Dr Chua said all divisions had been directed to organise events to engage the people from all walks of life.

“This is to show our (MCA’s) gratitude to the people at the grassroots level who had helped us in many ways,” he said.

Hi there,

nowadays during b election, chinese people start to request this that. My opinion is that you can accept the responsibility to help them, but also remind this group of people you are not only the party helping them, but you need to take good care of the whole chinese community.
Let say if they want a chinese school, ask them to present a detail proposal, where to get teachers, student etc. then show the statistic why they need it. And at the same time you can tell the public, there is always a channel for people to ask for things. Not only during the b election or not only for certain group of people. What if gov use up all the allocation to build the school but sadly to found out no students, but other place need the allocation more didn't get the money?
Generally Chinese people want to see there are things done to help the community systematically.

hi there again,

I dislike OTK. Drop him from the line up as he is not a team player. The reasons you can explain to the public especially in that particular area:

People want a leader to represent them, not a helper. He can be a very motivated helper that help to point the delayed repair road, help to solve minor issues. But how can he really help the people there if he is not a team player? Can he influence the gov policy on education? can he help with economy? As tax payer, we pay him (if he get elected) is not just for him to help x no of people then publicize it for personal gain. But to be the leader in the community to help the whole community. He is not up to the standard of being a leader.

You can call for a meeting for all potential candidates for the line up. including OTK. Explain to all of them you need team player. Those willing to work together will be selected. This is because the candidates not only represent their area, there are also going to be leader for chinese community. Whatever they say or do will affect your party and prone for attack from PKR if not in unison with the party.

Put all govt. allocations aside, let's see how much you can do, Soi Lek. Even with the govt. allocations, how much have MCA contributed to society? Most of the allocations, were channel to other streams benefitting only MCA leaders and cronies. I dare you to deny this!!!!!!!!!!!

The children of the chinsese community who study in SMK Mentakab have been deprived from certain privilages comparatively to those in SMK Hwa Lian. Among others the facilities to excell in certain sports. Due to their unsound 'Second Class" background, they have the potential to stray and jeorpadise the welbeing and the future of chinese community as a whole. Please help them to polish their natural talent and make the life of the chinese community here more meaningful.

I am not MCA’s cyber hatchet man. I just want to share that 人不贵于无过,而贵于能改过.

Jesus said: "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

MCA chose Chua as their leader because he is a good leader to unite the party. This indirectly also reflects the heart of forgiveness of the party.

How much money can you gather by becoming a leader? Not any if you are about to go to heaven in 20 years time.

Aiming for money and fame that will be in vain by risking self public humiliation? Maybe he has a heart to fight for Chinese… think about it.

We shall see his ability.

About the Penang bird nest industry crisis. LGY sounded like the jointed decision which is intended to be good for majority of Rayat- became BN's decision when he faced possibility of losing his political popularity!

First, he is not a good leader as he doesn't know how to explain the good policy to the Penang people.

Second, he immediately selfishly think of his own political popularity without considering the interest of majority of Penang people. When this bird nest industry potentially affect Penang as World Heritage Site, majority of rayat will negatively affected by less tourism, etc. Instead of standing firm, he sounded like that is a bad decision and the bad decision is of course made by the central gov.

Thirdly, he doesn't know how to handle the crisis as leader. When the majority's interest is affected by minority's interest, leader needs skills to convinced and persuade minority to sacrifice.

Lastly, he doesn't understand the adaptability of chinese. Given chance, this group of bird nest industry people may enter into another industry with better profit. They may not be unhappy because of the decision. But lack of communication and confidence that gov will help them.

This is where your son with his position in the ministry can help.

Dear Dr.Chua . I know that MCA under your leadership is trying very hard to win back the Chinese votes, but clearly, even though you have won back some, many are infact turning away stronger than ever as shown by recent Sarawak polls. You guys have probably analysed just about almost everything why many Chinese aren't giving you their votes. The answer is right infront of you, but you guys can't see it. In a simple word, its called DIGNITY . How many times have the BN Govt tried to extort the Chinese votes by saying "If u don't vote for BN, u won't get anything?" . It really saddens me to see MCA as an UMNO puppet ... just like how Scottish Nobles were treated by the English King to control the Scotland in the past. Well, I guess u guys never saw this coming - The Chinese rather hold on to their pride and dignity and willingly lose all benefits of a so-called representation in the Govt. We rather die suffering than to beg and lose our self-dignity in the process. Perhaps, if you could really become one of the common Chinese, then you would know what we are really fighting for.
