Press statement MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek

MCA extends our heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Tun Omar Ong Yoke Lin, one of the founding members of MCA who passed away in the morning of 1 July 2010 at the age of 93.

Born July 23, 1917 in Kuala Lumpur, Ong was one of the founding member of MCA and one of the key figures involved in the formation of the Umno-MCA alliance. The late Ong was also part of a delegation headed by Tunku Abdul Rahman to negotiate the country's independence in London in 1957.

His greatest involvement had brought our country towards independence and citizenship among Chinese community. His contribution to MCA, country as well as Chinese community deserved for highest appreciation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the dearly departed at his family during this difficult moment.
