文告:3人小组事件成历史,马华要关注经济课题 The Result of Snoop Squad Investigation is Much Expected

The finding of the investigation is as much as I expected. I attended the hearing session as I was asked to, otherwise I would have given it a miss. To me, I’m sure most MCA members and Chinese community will agree with me that there are more pressing issues confronting MCA, than whether the snoop squad exists.

The fuel increase and the subsequent increase in electric tariff will ultimately lead to increase in cost of production and inflation. I’ve just received complaints that Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) price has gone up by 120%. Labour intensive industries that consume a lot of electricity based on LPG would have their cost of production increased by 5-20 percent depending on the nature of industry. This will definitely cause the industry to lose money. We may expect that there will be some slow down and retrenchment. To me, these are more important issues that MCA need to address and if MCA continues to harp on snoop squad issue, people will be sick of us and eventually abandon us.

DR, MCA is only trying to divert people's attention away from the real issue.Since 8 march, MCA is still unrepentant, dwelling in non issues and infighting among themselves. If MCA still can't move forward then I bet the next election will completely wipe them from the face of politic. They have been fighting since the days of Tun Ling. This is absolutely stupid for Mr Ong for since taking over the power he has done nothing for the chinese community.MCA needs a leader who is bold and daring and who dare to fight for the cause of the chinese, dare to fight with umno for what belongs to the chinese, dare to grab the bull by it's horn, dare to stand up to those who think we chinese are sacond class migrants, dare to speak up for the rights that our fore fathers hold dearly to their hearts.MCA today fail in all these DARES,for they have no guts to right the wrongs that other communities dares. But not all blames lies with MCA,part of the blames lies with the chinese community for they who blindly voted the rotten party thinking that it's a taboo.May be the chinese who are desperately chasing after material needs, forgot the importance of MCA,so they just cast the vote blindly, thus making what MCA is today, irrevelant and out of date party. To sum up all this I say to all the chinese who wants MCA to be a party which will lead us into the next century, please change all the leaders and get in new ,well educated, daring, bold, dynamic, etc. It must be a party FOR THE CHINESE,BY THE CHINESE,OF THE CHINESE.Tks

On the contrary, I think MCA did do many good things. Just that these good things are overwhelmed by the atrocities of UMNO whho are the bully boys. Having said that, this culture had been handed down since 50 years ago. We had been taught to work and cooperate together even it is grossly unfair, MCA worked as it had no choice under BN rule. It is our fathers who told us that as long as we can make a living, who cares about politics. But time had changed. Our living means had been encroached by those greedy politicians.

As such MCA did go and try to work out projects by themselves such as Lifelong learn by Kojadi, MIRC, Unitar and look at the Chinese schools which are much much better than those fully funded government schools. Some of the State Assemblymen are of good qualities too. I am sure there are some neighbourhoods that can testify to that.

I read the MCA's moment of truth commentary in the MCA website and couldn't disagree with the options. However, the Chinese fight for the future is not just by MCA. Rather MCA is just the locomotive head. We need the coaches of influence and support behind it. We need all Chinese to see us through.

If MCA were to choose other options other than BN, we need DAP, Gerakan, SUPP, etc. Perhaps it is time to have a round Bak Kut Teh session which is totally informal and the underlying denominator is we are all Chinese at the round table.

I swear said...

While I agreed with most of Neil's view. I disagreed with For Chinese, By Chinese blah blah nonsense. MCA should fight for what is right, irrespective of " Cina,Melayu, India or lain lain". MCA should if sees any unjust policy, should play its role to correct the unjustness. For example, MCA should not keep quiet if there is a policy that discriminate Iban or Kadazan or certain group of people.

I also expected the results of the snoop squad investigation. It is expected of Ong Ka Ting, Ong Ka Chuan dan rakan rakan, which as a Chinese I feel MCA lost all its credibility, intergrity and respect. Anyway, 99% of the Malaysian Chinese believe the snoop squad exist and things that they have done. Just that these 99% are not the investigation members and decision/policy makers.

Someone once said "I am 5th generation Chinese in Malaysia and I have no chance to the the Menteri Besar. Someone from Jawa is 1st generation Malaysian and he became Menteri Besar".

Lastly, karma will catch up with those land grabbers, robbers and thieves.

dr,
Please allow me to respond to neil's comment.Neil, to be fair to the President, he has done quite a lot and perhaps had tried his best for the chinese community. if not because of the political sunami, he would have successfully brought in a new team of MCA MPs to the parliment, putting aside whether his method of selection of candidates was right or wrong. Before the general election, all BN component parties were bullied by UMNO.UMNO being the biggest malay party and also the ruling party was too arrogant, they hold the PM and Deputy PM posts and have 18 (if i am not wrong) ministers in the cabinet. They do not care much about the feelings of the other component parties. This attitude was inherrited from or since Dr. Mahathir,s time. If u take the trouble to dig into the old newspapers, u will read a lot of extreme racist words against the chinese uttered by Dr. mahathir, Musa Hitam, Anwar Ibrahim
even Najib when he was in the UMNO youth and others from UMNO.But honestly, until today I still cannot recall any unpleasent word said by PM Abdullah (and also the late Tun Ghafar Baba) towards other communities in Malaysia, when he was in the cabinet, out of the cabinet, DPM and now PM. We are the minority (only 25%) in Malaysia. Whether we liked it or not we had (please note that I used past tense HAD) to "cowtow" to the UMNO. We do not have the number to fight or bargain. In politics, numbers count.MCA was n is in the ruling party. We cannot behave like the DAP in the opposition. They could sit down n do nothing but keep scolding all the BN people. Now they rule some state governments, let us wait n see how they perform, bearing in mind that
they were n are still against every policy introduced by the BN government. Ling Liong Sik or Ong Ka Ting, being the MCA president, cannot shout or scold UMNO everyday and yet want UMNO to help the Chinese.Even blood brothers born in the same family, the younger brother cannot shout or fight with elder brother everytime and all the time. The feelings of each other must be taken care of.In BN case, sad to say, UMNO had taken this for granted for too long. MCA, gerakan, MIC,PPP always suffered in silence (umkup in cantonese). Honestly, neil, if you were the MCA President (I suppose u r a chinese), would u dare to openly voice out or critized UMNO on every
"unfair" issue before the last general election? If u say yes, then i would like to meet u and arrange for a public debate. Don't simply critize and look down on MCA. MCA had done a lot for the chinese. But now, scenario changes. BN did badly and maybe UMNO realised his mistake. The PR lead by Anwar is critizising UMNO and PM, Dr Mahathir, hadi Awang, lim kit siang
and everybody are critizesing UMNO,MCA MIC and BN. The malays themselves r deserting UMNO.Now MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other component parties dare to voice out openly.I am sure neil will say, ah... too late. Always remember, saying is easier than done. Neil, u still has a choice to show MCA how to lead. If u r an MCA member, go for the president post lead us to
a better future. If u r not an MCA member, then join MCA and help us to help yourself. I am not defending my President but I am defending my party.Let's be constructive and move on for a better tomorrow. Thank you neil. Goodnite dr.

Dear Dr Chua,

I trust that you do not share Neil's (June 11, 2008 3:44 PM) proposition that the MCA should be "a party FOR THE CHINESE, BY THE CHINESE, OF THE CHINESE"?

In truth, that is what it has been all along (in concert with an overarching policy of supine subservience to UMNO) and look what that has done for the nations? The future of the MCA lies in multiracialism. You know it; I know it! Could you please explain the reason why to the likes of Neil?

DR,

As what i mentioned earlier, the result had given no lead except clarifying the involvement of OKT in the issue. Nevertheless, it will remain an unresolved issue to me as the Presidency Council should not even waste everybody's time setting up the special committee if the allegations are baseless. However, as the whistle-blower dare to make an affidavit to support his statement to the Special Committee and lodged a police report against Leow later, to me the issue is still not over yet. They must have more information pertaining to this
issue worth investigating further.

If OKT and his squad are innocent and all the allegations by the whistle-blower are baseless as the special committee reported, i think a defamation suit should be brought against the relevant parties to bring justice to the innocent ones who had been dragged into the issue.

Come-on, i think it is time for OKT and this squad to revenge. Please do not act benevolently to the whistle-blower if you all are really innocent.

Failing which the benefit of the doubt will not go to you! And, more importantly, the story will not rest! Some of my friends told be that the snoop squad is not only make up of just 3 persons. To make the mechanism workable, u need 20, 30, 50 or some even said 60-man squad!

So, police must move in now!!

Dear Dr. Chua,

As you mentioned that, the result is expected. I totally agree with you. Of course, President Ong is still in power, the result will only favour him. I bet you, if Mr. Ong is not in power, the result will definitely different.
Hope that you will be successed in the coming president election. God will bless you...........

We know they will come out with this type of result because the 3 guys are appointed by Ong Ka Ting. They dare not go against Ong Ka Ting though the investigation is genuine.

You still remember the ko-operasi incident in 1988 crisis.During that time some news paper disclosed that 郑安泉 has the habbit to peek people through closed circuit television. He is an expert in using closed circuit TV.Go and search for 1988's news paper.Who knows if he has connection with video.

Soi Lek,

Congratulations! Doc, your posting has drawn a slew of very interesting comments - I'm sure some are to your liking, others may not.

But I hope you will read each and every comment and try to understand the underlying issues brought up by the commentators - some are obviously MCA men, some are true blue critics of MCA. This is the kind of feedback that the MCA needs and your President must surely thank all these people who take time out to comment in your blog.

Honestly, ordinary views from ordinary people are much more realistic or relevant, than views from MCA's so-called Think Tank or Presidential Council or CWC, as all these people have an invested interest. Most of us, bloggers have none!

Can you imagine many of the government servants start to look for extra income part-time job?

1.)
How can a government servant works with great efficiency while he is more interested in his part-time job?

2.)
What will happen to people like us small trader, hawker & etc. There will be no more place for us anymore.

3.)
Due to competition, they will definitely slash the price to attract more customers. As least they have a full-time METAL RICE BOWL job's income to do backup but WE DON'T.

4.)
With all the conveniences available as top priority, they might misused their connections or powers as extra advantages for their part-
time job.

5.)
The market and traders will killed by all these people at the end of the time.

6.)
There are a lot of government servants already extremely active in market for very very long time ago. MAS airlines staff & etc. also included but the airlines....... Enough lah !

7.)
I think we have enough hypermarkets. Mini market, sundry shop and Chinese medical hall, how can they survive?

Please do consider this serious situation. Small traders are struggling right now.

廖部长难道你有过人的“慧眼”?Please share with us.

Dr, Back again after a short trip. well tks to all who respond to my comments.Yeah, we all would very much like our party, the only party that we chinese look up to,to be a party that we one day can tell our children daddy is DAMN proud of,but alas it's not what I'm proud of. Ok, let me get back to cinabaru's comments..Quote 'umno being the biggest malay party and also the ruling party was too arrogant, they hold the pm...bla bla..Yes that is the case but my point is mca being the second largest party in malaysia must not only stand up to umno but also look straight into their eyes and tell them that we chinese are not migrants but malaysian. They must be taught to respect the rights of the chinese as much as they would like us to respect theirs. It's of no use for umno to call themselves islamic, majority race, elite, bumi etc, whatever, and then deny the basic rights to half their population.Umno must be taught to advocate racial tolerance, human rights, democracy and respect. We in mca must show unity and are prepared to live and die together for our race and for our future generation. If there is unity no force in this world can trample us down,no force can humilate us,no force can belittle us.No one,not even umno, not even a thousand umno. No community can hold its head high and claim to be part of the civilized world if it condones the practice of DISCRIMATING against one half of humanity. The greatness of a race depends on how others are treated. We in mca must stand up to this misdeeds.Whatever it's,to stand up to them is like making love-it's always easier the second time. The first time there may be pangs of conscience, a sense of guilt. But once embarked on this course, with constant repetition, you get more brazen in and the scope of the attack. As I said may times if the president of mca can't show us the way then who the hell on earth can.He is entrusted by the chinese community to make mca a party that we can one day hold our heads high and say 'MCA is a party we all trust, love and cherish'.Let us one day be able to tell our children that mca have got one of the brightest, ablest and brilliant leaders who have planted the seeds of success. But ,yes to say is easy,to do is difficult. That may be what cinabaru will be saying.Let us all be positive,it takes two hands to clap, two to tango. However hard it's our leaders must find way to deal with problems. It's not meant to be swept under the carpet.I'm talking of the principle of the open society, the open debate, ideas, not intimidation, persuasion not coercion. So let me ask cinabaru, whether our society is a open or a close society. Is it a society where men can preach ideas-the novel,unorthodox,heresies,-where there is a constant contest for men's minds and hearts on the basis of what is right,of what is just,of what is in the national interest?Or is it closed society where mass media-the newspapers, journals etc either by sound or by sight, feed men's mind.As an open society, constituting peoples of various languages,of varying political beliefs,in which the will of the majority will prevail, and in which a large dissenting minority will not be crushed and intimidated and silenced.I say let's pause and ask ourselves... Will mca be crushed, intimidated and silenced? This is for all chinese to ponder. As for my slogan-mca for the chinese,by the chinese,of the chinese. Many of you disagree.I myself find it quite amusing co's that what MCA stand for.If mca wants to be a multi-racial party then first of all it must change its name to may be Malaysian Democratic Party. The word chinese must be drop so as not to OFFEND other race.Who on earth if they are malays ,Iban, Indian etc would want to join a 'CHINESE' party run by the chinese. The top leadership,to reflect multi-racial,must comprise of all the race that join the party .The president's post must be on a rotational basis.Language use during meeting must be english. Can MCA do this..???Can we all not see why Singapore can use malay as the national anthem, install a indian president, speak english in parliament, encourage people of different race to speak their mother tongue? Why can't mca copy this model? If mca wants to be multi-racial party then these are the options. There may be more ways but I don't need to put it all in.cina baru says if I were the president of mca would I dare to criticize... Yes I would dare to convey my disappointment, bring up the issues that matters most to the chinese, tell umno that no party can go alone without the support of component parties, tell them not to wave the keris, must be fair in the decision making etc. The president must not only show that he can lead the party but also he must be truly visionary statesman, expressing with unique clarity the issues of our times and the way to tackle them.He must be resolute in guiding mca through thick or thin. For us all we will swim or sink with mca.But whether ones agrees or not, ones will learn a great deal. For some there are option when mca fail they can still find solace in DAP.At least the name DAP sound multi-racial,also pap,supp,prs,gerakan,snap,etc...It's my fervent hope that after march 8, mca can chart a new beginning and move forward with urgency.Tks

People at MCA need to be more vocal about their causes. You cannot win an election nor the hearts of people by staying in the background.

Look at Star's citizens' blog, people are starting to talk a lot about the issues that affect them. Most of the writers are from the opposition, why are people from Barison National not joining in to present their own views. Why are they not using it to defend themselves or pointing out the wrongs or half-truths of the opposition party? This is where you guys are losing out. You guys still do not realize the importance of talking back, to clear all the smoke that has been blown at you?

Anak Johor said...

I fully agree with what meiyen say, in fact, at least half of what said in most blogs, be it Malaysiakini or other blogs where most non-Malays express their views, are not true, or some are just nonsense or nothing but the lies. Why can't MCA set up a small group of people to fight it back?

You know these people, when they attack the government and at the same time also attack MCA, eventually it is MCA that will suffers in the election. All the hard and good works it has done will go down the drain.

In politics, you have to take the offensive line, and not to be too docile, thinking that people will appreciate your work in the end. This is what Ong Ka Ting should change; if you have done the work, what's wrong of telling the whole world or Chinese Community?

And please, stop all the internal bickering and face the cannons towards the enemies, and not our own MCA guys. And for one, Dr. Chua, you are right in stating the Snoop Squad issue should be put to a close and move on, irrespective of whether you agree with the findings or not. This is what a gentleman should do.

Even during the party elections, there are hundreds of issues facing our country and the Chinese community, the Snoop Squad thing is too trivial a thing even to be mention. In this regard, Wong Leong should shut his mouth. I truly think he is a truly nut and idiot, being made use of by others.

Unknown said...

I find it interesting and personally amused that Dr. Chua Jui Ming still tries to stage a political come back. Isn't he something of the past already?

While he was in MCA, we did not find him vocal enough in voicing out the issues faced by the Chinese community, but instead spent a lot of his time attacking the top leadership, forgetting he himself was one of the team once.

Dr. Chua (I mean Soi Lek), it cannot be a worst choice if you team up with him in the coming MCA top leadership election, find some one else; Donald Lim Siang Chai is also a bad choice; he blames the whole world except himself when he lost in GE12.

Besides, don't just concentrate on MCA election alone, there are hundreds of issues faced by the Chinese community that need to be resolved with political resolves. A politicina who is only brave in internal fights is good for nothing.

One more einteresting thing: isn't the so-called Chinese Community always blames MCA for its internal fighting? Looks at thre New Era College where Ye Xin Tian is fighting with Dr. Kuo Kia Song?

So when you keep attacking Ong Ka Ting, also need to be watchful of what your weaknesses are?

Melissa, very sad indeed you really only see the tree and miss the woods, as have read my comments totally out of context. None of the view I expressed indicates anywhere that I support anyone, or Ong Ka Ting, except I said that as far as Donald Lim is concerned, he shows a bad example as a politician. When I said if and when Dr. Chua tries to attack Ong Ka Ting (since I assume he is going for the MCA President post), or anybody for that matter, for his opponent’s weakness, he also needs to fully understand and not to expose his own weakness. This is how you go to a battle, understanding yourself and your enemy. Don’t tell me you don’t even understand this basic thing as mentioned by Sun Zhi?

Of course we are discussing serious issues, national as well as MCA, didn’t you see that I mentioned when we talk about MCA election, we must also not lose sight of the big issues facing the Chinese Community, and don’t be a man only brave in internal fighting?

This is a forum to discuss national as well as MCA issues as pointed by Dr. Chua in the first place, whereby we brainstorm and criticize constructively how best to bring the party forward in particular, and suggest ways to improve governing in general. Are not the current in-fighting in New Era College something important for the Chinese community, and we have every reason to be concerned about? So, please don’t be narrow minded.

I have no issue of taking any form of criticism from any one, but when you use some low level language, it only reflect on your own character.

BTW, Dr., as you have rightly pointed out, we really need to trim the government’s fat. Many of the government ministries are getting too big; too many so-called kakitangan doing too few jobs, yet Abdullah still so often talks about increasing civil servants intake, only recently after the steep fuel price hikes, did he mention curtailments of expenses and a hold in recruitment. The government machinery must an efficient tool to serve the people, not a place to take in more unemployed graduates. What graduates we are talking about, everyone is clear in his heart.

One kampung is right, it is unethical of using bad or low-level language to criticise someone in the blog, like the word "dog" used by melissa.

Therefore, I welcome party members and members of public to post your constructive suggestions and opinions on my blog on how to rebuild and reform the party, eventually enabling MCA to regain support from all party members and the community.

Thank you for your suggestions.
