Live on NTV 7 News/ 我的政治命运,由党员决定

Last night I was invited to NTV 7 live for English, Mandarin and Malay news. For the Chinese version, I once again emphasized that I’ve not decided to contest any post. I need to gauge the support from members and second, whether I can contribute to reform and rebuilding of MCA. As to the actual day when I can make announcement, I have no idea.
Of course one of the questions thrown is whether the dvd will affect support for me. I said that there are 2 schools of thought. One that I should be evaluated on performance, the other is that my private life should also be taken into consideration.
When this dvd issue first appeared, I consulted my President 3 times, Prime Minister 2 times and Deputy Prime Minister 1 time and I told them very clearly that I admit, apologize and pick up from there. I then resigned from all my party and government posts. If there is any comfort after I resign is that my family and my wife stood solidly with me. I am also encouraged that after my resignation, I continue to receive invitation to attend functions both within the party and NGOs.

In this context, I must thank DAP leaders, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng who openly said that during the election period they will not use the dvd issue against me because this is a private matter. Some even said my son’s victory is a vindication since I was campaigning on his behalf.
After my resignation, I have 2 options, whether I should:

1) Wallow in self pity and bitterness; or
2) Continue to use my experience and optimize my strength to do what I have been doing for the last 23 years; serve the party and the community.

I want to move forward. I hope my party members will give me a chance. I believe that my political destiny should be decided by MCA members. I will not let my “friends” within the party continue to pull me down with the dvd. There are strong forces at work to ensure I am marginalized in the party. Well, this is all part of politics. Meanwhile, I will not use personal attack against my colleague and I will let my political destiny to be decided by MCA members.

Dr,Most appreciated! welcome back after the dvd.The chinese for sure will support you after you have shown what no malaysian politician have the guts to do it,resigning from all post and admit the mistake.A man who DARES,not like those who have guts in their asshole. Now the next move is more challenging,to tackle the very issues that affect the chinese community, like education, employment and moving forward.MCA need people who are daring to confront these issues, not sweeping under the carpet or pleasing the umno guys.We are all behind you and for those old comrade in the MCA ,DR,show them the EXIT.These are the power crazy guys who shamelessly clinch on to their position hoping for a turn of fortune.Good luck my friend!

Know you know how good DAP leaders are, Kit Siang and Guan Eng. But its sad that MCA has time and time again taken pot shots at Kit Siang and Guan Eng accusing them all sort of names which I will not name here. So my question here, what is your take on all this?

Pls don't waste time and stop dreaming!
You will never become the president of MCA!
This is because you prefer to be the man who support BN UMNO govt to destroy the judiciary system in our beloved country!
Who had lost your soul as a human being! And you too don't have personal dignity!

Dr, though we do not condone what you have done as per the DVD case, but I still wish to treat your personal life separately from what you could contribute to the Chinese community in particular, and Malaysia in general.

There are critics, even enemies, no doubt, who will forever attack you no matter what you do, but over the years, we have observed you as a man of courage who had stood up for the right case whenever it demanded you of doing so.

Who does no mistake in his life? If fact, if you ask me, I am prepared to forgive, though not forget; what is more important is to move on. MCA needs your experience, courage and conscience in its political struggle. Hurdle ahead no doubt, but much need to be done by MCA. It is too early to call it quit. Compared to the greed and corruption of those not exposed, your DVD episode should not deter you.

If you do not participate in the MCA election, that will be the end of you political life; without a political platform, whatever grandiose you may have or say in the printable media, cyber blogs or otherwise, all these come to nothing!

There are many ways to contribute.
Write a political blog, like what you are doing now.
Do charity work for organisations which you are passionate about.

If you return to active politics, DVD issues will definitely return to haunt you and your family.
I wonder if this would be fair to them.

Dear Datuk Seri,

We are looking for an effective leader in politic and we don't expect a perfect person, Mr. Nice Guy, who's likely to be less capable than you to deliver the expectations from peoples.

We, the grassroots, want all the capable MCA leaders to joint-lead the party to a new era of change – a transformation. There's always room for all to work together if sincerity and selflessness exists, and also, if mutual accommodation of each other prevails.

MCA reform requires the efforts of all capable leaders who should talk about how to turn around the fate of MCA and not harping on the unpleasant private history of some good leaders. If one talks strictly of highest standard of morality, I bet 90% of party members might have to resign or kick out of the party in no time at all. Don’t be hypocrite!

Do you think you are the leader who can unite all the leaders in the party during this difficult time? If you think you are, then you should go for it without hesitation.

Premier Teng of China famous saying... 'Whether it a black or white cat, so long it can catch mice it is a good cat'

Doc, you are a good gentleman... you have your weakness (Those MCA member who have not at one time or another cheated on their wife , please show your hand)The only difference is that they are not caught and you are too confident of your power at that time....

Doc, my humble opinion is that your style of leadership have to change ..... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ...
Tell the UMNO guys to f...k off and give constructive opposition to UMNO without fear of favour...
UNTIL and unless you are able to do this then go on to cherish your goal and dream. We are behind you.

As I have commented earlier, you a a real fighting cock.... No Venture no Gain. You have nothing to loss.... Best of Luck....

If I were you, I would do this.

Rather than to go for broke at the top, it might be wiser to go for teamwork. What we need is for MCA, not for personal achievements as an individual. Moreso, you have this lingering DVD baggage. I am sure you can effectively serve as well in the EXCO. Let others who are in the Government take care of the BN matters while someone else can take care of the grassroots and reengineering.

A good example is Pakatan Rakyat. Anwar is much respected in the beginning as the opposition front is a team but when he become an individual, ppl start to lose their respect for him.

For me, serving the community is just like a train. Let someone be the locomotive while it is the coaches who really carry the goods.
You cannot have 2 locomotive engines in 1 train.

Soi Lek,

I have been quite a regular critic in your blog - just to let you know, I am not a member of any political party but that doesn't mean I am not concerned about political developments in this country.

I (and a lot of others out there) want to see this country progress into a developed nation, in body, mind and spirit. Most importantly we want a nation that are united, where all are treated fairly and justly. A nation where justice prevails and crooks (even those in high places) are subject to the same laws and justice as everyone else.

We all want our children and grandchildren to grow up color-blind, not being racist and narrow-minded. We can't change the multi-religious and multi-cultural realities in this country but we can make our differences into a strength for the nation. We must honestly accept all our brothers and sisters of different races and truly embrace a Malaysian Race.

We must rid this country of racist and corrupt politicians, enemies of all peace-loving Malaysians. If MCA (or any political party) intend to keep quiet and perpetuate the position of such leaders, it won't be long before the party see their own demise.

And lastly, I have no whatsoever respect or regard for leaders in any political party who always say 'nice' things when the rakyat are been attacked, robbed or screwed, or when people are been discriminated against because of their race or social standing.

After having spent a couple of decades in the party full of "friends", it's a eye opener when you said the DAP (LKS and LGE) will not attack you as it is a private matter. Yet those years with your "friends" have been coming to "nought" because these hypocrites (friends) are selling you out. That's the price you have to pay for regarding these people as "friends."

Now you know what kind of party you have been contributing for and "friends" who are too willing to polish your shoes when you were a minister, but they are also the same friends who had "sha ren bu jian xue".

Bless you with wisdom

Dr. Chua,
What you have done on 1st of Jan this year that you have admited to what you have done and the spirit of yours is indeed deserved a praise with loud applause. However, I would also love to be truth to myself and be frankly to you that the DVD is still much affecting what we are considering about dominating you as the candidate or evetually be the Leader of MCA and that is back to the political stage of what you were previously.

Of course, we are also measuring on your contributions and past performance versus the personal life of yours that should not be brought publicly.

I appreciate what you have done to the society and community but you have to work hard, and really hard enough to persuade us on what would be the basis that should be used to breakthrough the uneasiness of voting a Leader of MCA that has such DVD being taped before.

No matter how, let bygones be bygones and I still respect you as the Leader of MCA you were before and the contribution to Chinese community.

All the best to you and good luck
