Serious implications of Anwar seeking refuge in Turkish embassy

On Sunday morning, Anwar sought refuge in Turkish embassy stating reason that his life or safety was threatened. I believe this is in fact a first case in history that a Malaysian himself or even a politician seeking refuge or protection from the embassy office of other country in his own country.

Such action can lead to serious implications to the diplomatic relations between two countries. It can implicate interference of other country in our own country’s law and security. It can also tarnish the credibility of the Malaysian Police Force in the international arena. People and foreigners will then lose confidence in our police force in seeking protection and security.
It can further deter the confidence of foreign investors in their investments here by mistakably thinking that the political situation in Malaysia is in a serious unstable state. All these are going to dampen the efforts of the government in trying very hard to achieve economic growth in an unstable financial market as the price of oil keep going up.

As to the allegation of sodomy, I leave it to the police. Hope the police will do a good job.

Whether Anwar is guilty or not, he loses. Even if he is not guilty, the fact remained that he did not vet the mole, promoted him and keep him close to PKR. Also the fact that his wife got all the pictures ready instantly in her mobile phone to show others. All these point to the weakness of this PM pretender. As a leader of our country, you cannot afford these mistakes.

By going to Turkey and all of us know Turkey is a key ally of USA, it showed that Anwar still have the USA links.

And if I were PM, I would reprimand the embassy by suspending embassy staff for the time being to investigate our "family affairs". It has nothing to do with these foreigners.

Today it is Turkey, tomorrow which embassy shall it be?

Dr Chua, i believe what u commented do make sense. However, when a country has become so corrupted, it is no wrong to seek protection from third party. When the persons with power threaten Anwar's safety, Anwar has no choice because our country is lack of justice now. If all the departments, i.e. police, judiciary, admin.... are independent and uncorrupted, i believe Anwar would not choose to seek refuge from Turkey embassy. I am really appalled with the corruption in Malaysia now.

Hello Dr. I agree with what you are saying. Anwar's act to seek refuge in the Turkish Embassy puts our country in danger, notjust with the Turks but also in terms of Malaysia's image to other countries.
As a veteran in the political arena, these thoughts must have crossed his mind a thousand, or maybe a couple of times.
By doing what he did, he's actually putting his personal and political interest in front of everything else.
That is trully selfish.

I really want to trust the PDRM, I really do.

But time and time again the top brass have shown that they are all too willing servants of UMNO. My trust is dead. What else should Anwar do? Go into the police station and have a nice chat with the people there? The last time he was there, he nearly died. And it's quite believable that someone would want him gone, forever. Someone did this to Altantuya. Questions remain, but investigations drag on despite fresh allegations.

Too much at stake now for the future of the country. The rule book has been thrown out. The countdown has begun!

You should see how you can reposition yourself in this new situation, to serve us, the rakyat, of course.

Datuk
Are you saying that you are happy with the police investigation to your case? How come they did not find any snoop squads or beyond?

I Wonder why u still can trust PDRM?!

Honestly, I find it extremely hard to believe in Malaysia, at least for now, politicians' lives can be threatened. It is simply not our way of life.

As Syed Hamid has pointed out, Anwar has been going round freely inside and outside the country, critizing the government (of course there is nothing wrong in a democratic country), has there been any threat to his life before?

Don't forget, Anwar is a strategist and mastermind of sorts, could he be putting up a political stage drama? He said that 4 BN MP were going to cross over to PR this week, including 2 from UMNO. Well, a week is a short time, let's see if this materialises and how much weight his words carry. If this turns out to be real, then there is really something to watch out for, comes September 16.

As for the sodomy charge, to believe or not to believe? Let the police do their job and tell us the truth. Eventually, the truth shall prevail.

Dr, But for the chinese they won,t seek refuge in embassies instead they seek refuge by migrating to other countries because MCA failed to live up to the people's expectation.

I thought the credibility of the Malaysian Police force WAS already tarnished back in 1998 when the whole world witnessed the then IGP beaten the daylight out of the then DPM. If a Deputy Prime Minister can be beaten up so brutally by the top man of the police force, what kind confidence can we ordinary citizens have??????

The then IGP was later convicted and jailed for TWO months - for beating up a Deputy Prime Minister of a country!!! Is this to serve as an encouragement to other police to do likewise kowing that they will get away with very light sentence???????

Dear Datuk,
This is my first time surfing into your blog. I came to know about it through the Mandarin news in the television. I am going to be quite frank in my comments to you.

Malaysia's politics is in topsy-turvy condition. We begin from the very top. A lot of people claim that our PM is sleeping. Our DPM is suspected to be involved in the Altantuya's case. 4 states are now under the Pakatan Rakyat. Or is it 5 ? MCA has a snoop squad in action, finally ending with the stepping down of Datuk Ong. Sabah declares a motion of no confidence in the PM. And now the latest news is somebody threatens Datuk Anwar.

But I want to come back to you, Datuk. I know that when it comes to work, you have no problem. I admire your wife and your children. What pisses me off is many times, some pengarah or some boss will come up with a disciplinary action or a warning against their subordinate without a single recall that she has made a mistake first which causes the subordinate to make the subsequent mistake. This disciplinary action or just a warning cause the career of that subordinate to suffer badly. But the pengarah or the boss herself still enjoys the privileges of her position. Who gives her the full authority to punish another person when she is not perfect herself ? Or is it that in her mind, she thinks just because she is the boss, she can do anything she likes and she can get away with it and laugh at the suffering of her subordinate ? And when somebody obeys her every orders and pleases her, she recognise her without thinking that it is all a pretense. Do you know what work smart really means ? It means putting on a real nice show when boss is around. When boss is not around, she is the laziest, uncommitted worker in the organization. This is the real meaning of work smart.

Therefore when you announced your mistake to the press on that fateful day, you hurt many people. Not just your political supporters. But your workers in your Ministry of Health. How can you bosses expect your subordinates to genuinely respect their bosses ?

Appearance wise, you look strict and stern. You look decent, wholesome, good, responsible. But may be in another way, we are reminded never to judge a book by its' cover.

Foreigners losing confidence in us? Yes they wil lose confidence in us but not because of Anwar seeking refuge in Turkish embassy. They will lose confidence because of reports how we had bled billions of dollars from corruption. Or about how the judiciary is so twisted that they dont believe that they will get a fair hearing in our courts. They will also lose confidence if they came to know that crime rate is rising as we speak. And BN MPs spewing unfriendly racial undertones.

That will spook foreigners. Anwar seeking refuge at Turkish embassy? Thats nothing. Dont fan something out of nothing. Rakyat sudah muak dgn propoganda BN terutamanya MCA yg cuba meperlekehkan kebijaksanaan rakyat. Enough is enough.

Dr Chua,

You have been in the government before. Does what you write reflect the realities of what Malaysia is facing. Does the conscious has to do with the subconscious? You are not talking about Anwar. You are talking about the government, right?

Bunnies World said...

All these talks about lose confidence in Police Raja Di Malaysia, our government... Sigh.. it has been happening a long time already. So, let's all wake up to the fact that we are screwed big time!!! Front and back!!

Frankly, if I am Anwar, I too will sought refuge in some foreign embassy. After the black eye incident, how to trust the police force? Sigh.. who cares what implication to the country or foreign ties, it is my life we are talking about.

Anyway, whether it is a conspiracy or the truth, this latest spin is getting out of hand and seriously, I am ashamed to say I am a Malaysian!

Datuk,

I am great admirer of your capability as the Minister of Health. First of all, do you trust the PDRM, Corruption Investigation Department, judiciary and etc.
If PDRM is serving their job, they should protect the Cheras Mahkota residents but not the GRANT SAGA!
If Corruption Investigation Department is doing their job, they should go investigate Dato'Zakaria and put him on the court for execution.
If judiciary is doing their job, guess Answar will not be put in penalty on 1998.

When you see back all these cases, you ask me how to trust the government? I admit there's good Police officers, but they often controlled by the top people! Guess you know what I mean.

If you want to be a real creditable politician for the Malaysian (I am Chinese, but I am not seeing you as the MCA representative, but a representative of all Malaysians), go read out what said in the RPK's blog and correct us if his claim in the blog were untruthful, cheating and so on.

And I hope you could reply some of the comments to show that you are not blogging what you think, but reply people's comments that make people like me truthfully respect you!

All said, frankly I don't have much confidence and trust in our police. In many of the reports lodged, they choose to investigate only those cases they are instructed to.

The IGP always says withour fear or favour, they investigate all cases. How many of us believe in this?

It is not that we have not been fair to the police, they have indeed frequently done a good job too, but it really takes time for common people like us to build up our trust and confidence in them.

Tan Sri Musa himself has been named as one of the culprits in the "black eye" saga; can he truly carry out an impartial investigation?

Cow Sense said...

whatever is it .. as long as the persons involved on the investigation can sleep peacefully in the night and for the rest of his / her life will do.

Cheers

A lot of MCA bashing.rakyat can wait till the next GE to decide not poking on crossovers to aggravate situation as the economy is facing inflationary pressures why not work towards nation building till the next GE where ur vote will decide or rather PR cant wait.As for corruption every country has this problem if u travel and see that it is worldwide.Wat has PR done for u as a blogger? Tell me ur experience?

Chee Yong said...

No wonder Tommy's comments has a cynical smell. He is a MCA guy. Let me tell you as an ordinary rakyat without any political affliations, call PR the next Big White Hope or call it whatever you want but as a Chinese, I can safely say that I dont need MCA or you around. You are nothing but a racist. That goes for the rest of BN component parties as well. Forming yourself based on racial lines, and form a gang call Barisan Nasional. Yes during the 60s this concept might work, but today your concept is jkust another relic thats best kept in a museum.

If you want to earn back the people's trust, work harder, be more humble, and stop questioning what PR can or cannot do. That will be a good start Mr Tommy. Cant believe, such an experienced MCA member like you still havent learn a lesson...aiyah.....banyak banyak sedih sama lu la.....

And yes this is MCA bashing because your party is a useless outfit...period

Welcome to my Blog

As a concerned MCA member, I am trying my best to help in the process of rebuilding and repositioning of the party.

Therefore, I welcome party members and members of public to post your constructive suggestions and opinions on my blog on how to rebuild and reform the party, eventually enabling MCA to regain support from all party members and the community.

Thank you for your suggestions.
