Regarding the sex dvd that has been, I notice quite frequently commented about in my blog, I have this to say. I have already admitted and apologized for it, both to the public and the people who matter most to me, my family. I have also resigned from all government and party posts. While I stand to be judged on my private life, it seems to be immaterial as to who the perpetrator behind this tape was. I guess it is unhealthy political culture to expose my private affairs. After all, I must say that the timing was exquisite, holding it onto the tape for a few months and releasing it for maximum impact. Well, new year did indeed start with a bang for me.
Since my family has accepted my apology, I will continue to move on. I do not claim to be perfect, at least I choose not to behave by saying although I was advised by my lawyers “It looks like me, it sounds like me but its not me”. The rest of other rumours are false that is continued by my “friends” to assassinate me.
I was deeply encouraged by a survey done by a local magazine in Labis where they went down to interview voters on the dvd issue. Majority think that it was a personal matter that involves me and my family more than the public. During the election when my son contested for the Labis constituency, this issue was not raised at all.
One of the leading opposition leaders who went to jail purportedly on sodomy and corruption is today hailed as a reformer in the country. I think majority of rakyat of Malaysia think he was a victim of character assassination. So friend, we make mistakes but life has to move on.
As I've said before, I will continue to move on and you are entitled to your judgement. The people who matter the most to me, have already forgiven me. Life goes on.

Are we still at this???
Firstly, for the record, you did the right thing by admitting that it was YOU in that little video. Nope, I didnt view it although I was forwarded by friends a copy of that video. Ya la, out of respect for a decent man who has the courage to admit his actions and also, what the flying fcuk is there to see? You cant be hanging from the ceiling while doing it, can you? YOU DID??!! OH MYYYY!
Anyway, my personal opinion is that you should have stayed on as the Minister of Health. Yars! Yars! Yars! Yars.. some hollier than thou buggers literally FORCED you to resign.. I know. But in my opinion, I expected you to give it a good fight and not just let them trample you all over like that! You should be judged by your peformance in office as a minister for the health category in Malaysia and its living souls and not for your performance in bed or otherwise. That! should be left to your wife/gfs/whatever for crying out loud!
As for who was/were the evil knievel(s) who did the taping, well, I am really not bothered with such low breeds of pariahs. No respect for basic human laws of privacy and dignity shouldnt even call themselves human ok.
So, glad to hear you have move on. You are korek... we are all human, we will make mistakes along the way.
Datuk Seri,
Times will faded poeple memory, our life still has to goes on as usual, so long your family accepted your apology, none of their business!

Dear Dr. Chua,
I am really disappointed that we are still at this TOPIC!!!! I don't understand why people keep talking this topic as there are other important issues to discuss. Like what you said, life has to move on. Frankly speaking, when i was inform by my friends from Batu Pahat about this incident when i was in london, i got a shock and i don't belive that you will do this. My first thinking was, you must be framed up by your politic enemy. You can choose to deny but you didn't, this is where i admire and respect. And later on you resigned from all the post, in fact, i disagreed with what you did because as a Rakyat from Batu Pahat, i only judged the Minister based on the ability and contribution, rather than their life in private. Nobody got the right to judge anyone's private life.
I hope this will be the last time that we talk about this issue. Life has to be moved on and there are many other challanges waiting for you. LET'S US MOOOOOOOOOOVE ON. ALL THE BEST Dr. Chua
People of labis accepted you because of your capabilities which is remarkably very very good compared to many in the BN.We as a malaysian feel none the less let down. You should have been a good example to all malaysians but you choose to let your animal instinct take control of you.Its important malaysians reject you and set an example to all politicians to shape up or be shipped out.I dare you to publish this but some how i doubt you will.I for one feel terribly let down by you.
All the best....
Doc,
U still sore about this? Still need to dwell and remind people about it?
Put it this way, my take is, its none of my business that you go around gallivanting as long as your family forgives you its ok with me. In fact, it doesnt matter if its ok or not with me! I am not family... so I have no bloody right to judge you..
But please do not dwell in it anymore .. worse I am beginning to think you are trying to gain more sympathy rekindling this matter. Geddit?
dr... let me reassure you, we dont care how many women u have bedded... i am a man too and i know i have my needs. So long as u dont commit criminal acts or get your hands dirty in illegal trading, u r free to stand in public and do what u r doing.
let me say this again, i admire your courage. You could have put up a face mask and held onto yr previous posts, but look at OKT... what's the point?
oh yes, thank you for acknowledging my previous comment.
Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim
如果行得正,站得正;
Although Dr Chua has been proven beyond reasonable doubt that he has an intimate girl friend, he is definitely not a porn star.
Let us move on, as Dr Chua has.
As the 3/8 election results have taught us to be more tolerant of different views, and since Dr Chua has written another reply on his DVD issue, I take this opportunity to reproduce an article, written by me some time ago but not published yet, here to give another perspective on looking at such an issue.
Dr Chua,
Do not compare yourself with Dato's Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This is very unfair to him, he is a honourable man.
He has been betrayed by the party,
misjudged by the court and deceived
by the coward nation like us. We should fight for him on the behalf of justice because he is Malaysian too.
Victory in 12th general election has proven his leadership capability without any doubt.
I don't pity him at all but I adore his spirit and his courage that no one can deny!
This issue should be put to rest. However, if Dr. Chua wants to challenge the president in the upcoming poll, it will be an issue. What is Dr. Chua's family value view now? Do you still think it is ok to have "girl friend" as long as it is not known to the public?
dr. chuah u has done great thing being a HEALTH MINISTER. we MA'S had got we supposed to get dr. Our crical and post basic allowences. 3 MA'S are now pengarah hospital.
thank u so much for given us the change to lead the heathcare.
BENJAMIN PPPU32
Dr Chua,
It doesn't matter as your good record as Health Minister beyond this mess. Well, private life is part of political life? Yes it is.
Anyway, glad could 'see' you now in bloggers world. Keep it up man! Don't let yourself down. I still want to read more opinions from such ex-leader like you.
I refer to Kimho8:“......Do not compare yourself with Dato's Seri Anwar Ibrahim. This is very unfair to him, he is a honourable man.”
I dont think dr chua is his original post initiated any comparison between his wrong doing with Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim to get pitty vote. I comprehend his message as "yes, I was wrong, i want to apologise which i did, i have a right to move on with my life and if my experience and efforts still needed and accepted by the community, i shall be given another chance to contribute jusat like anyone else in the country."
I am not a fan of any politician or leader in Msia.In fact i am sick of the whole bundle regardless BN or PR. I just want to pinpoint some of the viewer's comments are so subjective and it could misled the rest and it could have more damage than the tape itself.
In the tape incident, if you are judging the one who make mistake, now we already put dr chua on judgement table, but dont you think the one who recorded secretly, circulating and the culprit behind the scene should be comdemned fiercely too? But what the most malaysian did was dont bother but commenting on dr chua, his family, his girlfren for their own curiosity and self-shiok only. I am sorry if any of you feel offended.
Till now, none of us help to find the bad guy behind.....
But for Dr Chua, i think this should be ur last piece to talk about the tape. From now, you should let tis behind.
i still hold my reservation on whether it is indeed you that is behind this blog. however, my comment is sincere.
corrupt officers in power will ruin the country. incompetent officers in power will ruin the country. but i do not think an officer in power that has ex-marital affairs would ruin the country.
what happens within the four doors of your private room is no concern to the public eye.
Your escapade has been unpleasantly revealed, much to the disgust of the public (on privacy, and also why a highly respected snr minister was caught in the act), you being a responsible person must without a single hesitation, take responsibility over your action. and the fact that you did come forth and claim your guilt, earned my respect. this however, is the irony that is laid before you, stay in power..this will be your Achilles heel, givin you neverending PR problems. leave politics..you gain your respect as a man, but lose all executive powers.
what is MCA doing to the allegations being hurled at the party? is MCA really the representation of chinese in the country? why is the public perception on MCA = corruption??
we do accept your appology
but u cant continue to be a minister.
we do RESPECT AND PROUD of u that u do and admit attitude
and we do hope you to understand that u MUST be able to bear the consequence when do did the act (and we are not in the position to say its good or bad)
And the consequence that u will be facing, we do not want a Minister / MCA president who has a wife having an extra maritial affair. Cos we treasure family values and appreciate family members!!!
By you not being minister, doesnt means we do support u anymore.
what is the point of making a comeback when u have decided to let go. Pls enjoy the rest of ur life and forget the political world. and perhaps u wanted to be the watchdog.
Learn to let go.
Hey Doc.
I think you missed the point. If you want respect you have to earn it.
Everyone takes a fall every now and then, if you want to be perfect you would have to be Jesus.
What we want is a leader that is honorable, with integrity, and discretion. You did almost all the right things except for saying that your only regret was working hard.
Thats just not a very smart thing to say. If you had not said that statement about regretting on working hard. We would all have voted you back in "in-no-time" at all.
I think you are one of the smartest politician around thats honorable; i hope you have learnt your lesson and use greater discretion (wisdom)to handle the challenges thrown at you.
I think most Malaysians would love to give you a second chance my advice to you is to choose wisely. Don't sell us out with the "silent" politics of MCA. Btw, there's no such thing as "silent" politics; politics that are silent = "no balls" and "sell-out".
Be a man, admit your mistakes and move on.
Best Regards,
Vincent
I would like to offer an apology
for over criticising in this matter
but I hope Dr. Chua really leave
all this behind and move forward
together with his family for the better tomorrow as a good husband, good father and a good politician too.
I agreed that when Dr. Chua was
in the position of health minister,
he has did plenty favourable jobs. He even tried to protect medical plan isured for better medication and much more. Good job!
I have attended the Sin Chew Daily seminar on the 11/3/2008.
The amazing courage in Mrs. Chua has made her stand up straight
in the public together with their son. Not every woman can do this!
Dr. Chua, do cherish your wife
and never compromise with Beban
Negara because they will never
ever change!
Remember the Bagan moron.
They are unqualified gang!
it was a personal issue, mistake as it may have been, not a political one.
i admire you for having the integrity to admit things instead of the usual games of denial people play. though what really matters is how you and your family see yourself, i'd suspect that you still have a big following of supporters behind you.
I'm a malaysian physician based in the US; i think you've done a lot of good for the healthcare system back there (well, aside from the privatisation Act, but no one ever gets a perfect report card :) ).
keep up the good work, doc.
When my MIL suffered tongue cancer and was recomended to Treatment in GH. Surely from the system and professional system, our KLGH had improved much. The only is queue and long wait, pity those who do not got the means to jump queue. It is simply too many people from far to come for almost free treatment. We got so many to do in our Medic care for people.
The fact is the ratio of Dr vs population is still far from standard. But for many aged people, they buy time to save $ for private treatment whcih they can never afford.
Now another young man take over, he is toking installing CCTV to monitor. As a Dr yourself, i am sure you are aware, Dr Just work like hell, non stop and they are simply exhausted. Monitoring and distrust is not the key to improve time. We need to look at traffic, statistics and ever increase 'poor' swinging to GH for saving and ever expensive private care.
We need more DOctors, and proper control of foreign patients.
many people respect you.
I salute you.
I wonder the current H.Minister seek your mentor to manage some teething issues.
He should. so replicate can be avoided and people will see the real benefit.
hopeful he got no new agenda without influence from someone who had no ideal how the health system . every cycle starts another learning process for new minister...wasei
With due respect to you Dr. Chua, i still think that it is inappropriate to compare yourself with the case of Anwar Ibrahim.
First of all, from the beginning until now, he has never admitted that he committed the offend. Moreover his case was dropped since. His judgement is still very much a subject of controversy and a grey spot in our judiciary. Many foreigner medias gave opposite comments on this case, such as Anwar's Trial on youtube.
Having said that, i must salute your courage to admit and take responsibility and to resign as minister and MP. Your action clear shows that you have much higher moral value as compared to the like of CKC and OKT.
All the best!
I can't believe there's so many who defended you on this issue. But I can't forget what you said after annoucing your resignation. You said that you learned that honesty does not pay? & what was your greatest mistake?
How can people trust you again? They're just plain stupid or are either using.
You can voice out so frankly about so many issues because now you have nothing to lose. It's human pscyh.
What else will you speak up for? How about this that no MP will raise? The government's pension plan is the main reason of corruption. You got a brain!? Think about it.
What's the fuss all about?? Sex making only and it is no big deal! You believe that all our Ministers are chaste and divine not to have tryst with their girl friends? No hooker habits??Please don't make me laugh because I am a serious old man with no sense of humor. Our Chua is just an unfortunate victim in this tape scandal only.Let say if he is not caught in this incident,he would have continued dating his darling sweetheart to bed and he still performs his duty as a Health Minister.
Love making is a very wonderful and sacred thing and I am perplexed why so many people seem treat it as indecent and immoral affair.Maybe I doubt these people have contracted ED(erectile dysfunction) and feel jealous of our virile Chua?
Albert from Penang 14th-April 2008
Good you acknowledged what you did and move on..BUT you know what?
Your piece does not read as if you were truly apologetic !
In fact, dare I say this? You sound emmm...Arrogant?
Yes it is yr private life
Yes you apologised to yr family
BUT..
You are/were a public figure
By virtue of being a PUBLIC figure Much is expected of you, your ethics and behaviour
Heck! You even represented the chinese community no?
OK so we know you are not the pope and it isn't fair on you because you are human etc...
We should let you move on...etc BUT you were still a Public figure and a Community Leader.
So Dr Chua - Morals are Morals, Ethics are ethics
How do you trust someone with matters of the state when they can betray their family for a piece of meat?
Think about it
What happened to you is NOT a private matter. It was a matter for the country because of WHO you were.
Think about it...
Don't ...
the ppl who supported you,
the ppl who believed in you and the people you serve(d) also deserve an apology?
Take a leaf fr Bill and apologise to the People
Datuk Seri,
I respect you for being honest in this issue, but I really hope you could continue serving the country as the Health Minister. You are knowledgeable did a lot for us the medical workers and also contributed a lot more to the health standard in Malaysia.
I see you as a good politician. Thank you. I'll always support you.
Please come back.
I agree with gobloking.
You are a very PUBLIC figure. A Minister. An MCA leader. Someone whom somebody else is willing to entrust their own life and family's future to. What you did having an extramarital affair definitely was NOT a private affair, much as everyone else seems to think so.
It is pretty dismaying that Malaysians, and those commenters who write here, are naive when it comes to serious issues like this. The way they keep on harping it is your private business, it makes me think we Malaysians truly have no more scruples.
Imagine one of these days (assuming you are still a Minister) and the Government launches a campaign of fidelity and honesty. And you are a speaker and you speak on wholesome topics. But you are an adulterer! Really does give a whole new meaning to the word 'double speak'!
And now, I hear you may wish to go for the MCA Presidency. Don't you know you will be the laughing stock of Malaysians (especially the other races, perhaps) should you win it. Why? Because the President of MCA has a sex video to his name! Confound it!
So, Dr. Chua, much as I harbour no personal animosity towards you or your family or even supporters, but let's call a spade as just that, shall we? You shall have to bear this adulterer baggage the rest of your life and it won't do you good to keep on harping "IT IS MY PRIVATE AFFAIR" thing. And the other naive Malaysians out there should stop this silly chant too.
To use Anwar Ibrahim as a gauge to say all people bounce back somehow, yes, that's true. But the difference between him and you is as clear as night and day. He was a victim of heinous political shadowplay. You are just being you when you showed the public what nakedness is.
I wish you well, Dr. Chua.
gobloking has it right on the money.
Because of who he was, his actions become public issue. If he was another sod bedding someone else, who gives a rat's ass.
But once you are a man appointed by the people, then sorryyyyy... you can't go fuckin someone else and then come out admitting AND expect the world to worship your manly admission.
Was it wrong? YES. So? What's the debate?
If YOUR SON-IN-LAW did it to YOUR DAUGHTER, would you be livid?
If YOUR WIFE was the one bedding another man, would you be upset?
Sorry Chua, my experience as a journalist with you means I have seen your arrogance in action. The I am a BN minister so don't mess with me look...
To me, you got what you deserved. Yes your right is to ask for forgiveness, the people reserve the right to NOT accept.
And please.. don't try to raise the intent of the person who filmed and distributed it. Yes he had motives but it DOES NOT make your act any holier. Sorry.
Dear Dr Chua
There's none perfect in this world, take comfort in that, its unfortunate that it had to happen to you, basically you were framed, never be worried bout these moral custodians and moral policing by society, they are have double standards.... check out www.osho.com.... it'll help you to be at peace within, the most difficult thing to achieve.
We are human and are bound to slip one way the other.
And maybe all your readers must visit the site to enrich their own lifes.
Cheers, btw Malaysians have moved away from racial politics, so to renew and rejuvenate, MCA must reinvent or its will be dead in the coming election.
Dear Dr Chua,
I do hope that it's really you who's writing this blog cause otherwise, it's not a very cool thing to do.
Some of my friends (doctors) told me about their 'misery' while serving the govt hospital. Your action in raising their allowances (although I heard it was because your son who is also a doctor had asked you to raise it..) did help lessen the burden a bit. So, I guess you did good deed there.
But I was surprised with your 'hollier-than-thou' remark. Not a cool thing to say to those who think that you should step down. Don't take a swipe at people who used to have higher expectation of you. While we sort of know that our leaders are not without 'baggage', we also expect certain codes of conduct from them. When you got caught, it's only right that you should step down, which you did. Maybe by now, ppl will have lesser expectations of their leaders, but that doesn't mean that the leaders can rest on their laurels.
About your political comeback, if there'll be any, I thought that's not a good idea. Although I would understand if you're planning to make one. Staying home without any outlets for your intelligence might not be good for your health. Hey, blogging is definitely a good choice.
Well Dr Chua, you've certainly taken a lot of flak for your out-of-office conduct. But I'm guessing being a man that you are, you can take it all in your stride.
I don't really think the public can 'move on' as much as you'd like. Sex scandals are things that generally come back to haunt you. We live in a world that craves sensationalism. There will be other scandals to outshine yours, no doubt, but once you've done it people won't just forget. Someday, someone will dig it back up again at the opportune moment. Though it may not be my place to judge, I am still entitled to my opinion and I am personally disgusted by what you did. Just sex? No big deal? Gee, if this was a female minister, I don't think you men would be as forgiving. What about morals? Sanctity of marriage? Family values? If you're thinking of making a comeback... I agree with Vincent Wong, who said "If you want respect you have to earn it."
Face it,this sex-thing has made you irrelevant_lah !!!Gone...KAPUT !!!!So,don't ever think we malaysians can forget and forgive ...WRONG!!! YOUR CONDUCT IS SCANDALOUS..and, I for one wouldn't ever want you as my leader.By the way, don't compare yourself with Anwar-lah...You are no where near him and, besides, he fought all the way to clear his name and the charge against him... You? You "caved in..Aiyaaa...aaaah!!! How to be leader of chinese or for that matter Malaysians??
hmn..chinese society is kinda conservative as what i knew..since the leaking of the dvd, i found that elder people would ALWAYS mention --> wah, this chua really...>_<
well, that's really VERY VERY personal...don't know whose the 'jrek sas'..
at least you ady apologised and resigned all the posts you possessed last time...
no matter how lar, just wish you all the best as you said --> LIFE GOES ON!!!! ;)
I fully agree and concur that the sex DVD is your personal life, and NO one has the right to bring this up against you - even if it's for political reason. What you did was the right thing, in the sense that you confessed, rather than evaded the issue, or worse, lied about it. On this count, you're an honourable man.
For those who criticised you, let them ask themselves if they have not done any 'wrong' act.
What you did was indulge in sex - and it was between two consulting adults - and your wife and family probably knew and forgave you for it. So what's the big deal about this vs visiting a brothel?
No BIG deal!
"Since my family has accepted my apology, I will continue to move on."
Datuk Seri Dr. Chua,
You shouldn't worry about your future in politic. You have been an excellent leader all this while and I could not give up the idea that you would become the President of MCA soon.
The only ones who do not accept your apology are those who are responsible for the "DVD" set up. I have been observing your movements since the scandal broke out, and I think you've been frank, straight forward, and naively honest. These are the basic elements of good leader. You had handled your case like a doctor should: amputated the "bad leg" without hesitation, applied with strong doses of medicine, and finished off clean and neat. This is the quality that current MCA leaderships are lacking. The current leaders are just not good enough to compete and work with whoever the political groups emerge in the future. The leader who is only spending time on eliminating his potential comrades is sinful, and betrayal of the trust from the grassroots.
